A University of Central Florida student definitely took advantage of his spring break. But he wasn’t at the beach or on vacation.

Police say Adam Charles McManaman, 19, instead spent the week off breaking into apartments at Knights Circle, a student apartment complex off McCulloch Road about a mile from the school.

He made off with Michael Kors watches, iPads, and a GoPro camera after burglarizing four apartments at the complex, an arrest affidavit shows. He’s also accused of taking cocaine, marijuana, underwear, and a bottle of Jose Cuervo tequila, police said. The string of incidents started on March 15.

Police say McManaman climbed balconies and entered the apartments through sliding glass doors.

One student came back from break and found blood spattered throughout her apartment, then noticed the glass table on her balcony was broken, according to an arrest affidavit.

Another student noticed $600 was missing from her bedroom when she returned from break. The student told detectives she had been saving the cash for a year and had it in envelopes labeled “Money plan,” along with tips for how to save money, according to an arrest affidavit.

Two other students reported the burglaries when they returned to their apartments. They were missing a GoPro camera, two watches, $50, and a bottle of tequila, police said.

UCF Police discovered McManaman was behind the batch of burglaries after he confessed to a friend and said he planned to sell the items, an arrest report said. That friend went to the police.

When interviewed by police, he confessed to the crimes and said he had stolen other items, including a Nikon camera, women’s underwear, and marijuana, according to an arrest affidavit.

None of the students who were missing items claimed the stolen cocaine and marijuana, a report shows.

Police searched McManaman’s apartment and found all the stolen items, which were then returned to the victims, they said. He faces burglary and grand theft charges.
